salon weekly
This week at then salon we were some what busy but that is to be expected at this time of year. Yeah I know last week I was good and flossin on how we were so busy and I was chillin and all that jazz ,however, this business of hair is like that. Even for the stylist with a full clientele you can still have a day, week and month where you may be a little slow but thats no reason to complain, quit or move. Which leads me to my topic of discussion. The forever moving hairstylist, now lets be clear Im not the perfect hairstylist I havent remained at the same salon for my entire career. I have been to 7 yes 7 different salons and if I hadnt repeated one it would be 8. So lets see if I can shed a little light on the situation. When I graduated from Cosmetology School I had just recently broken up with my boyfriend at the time he was and still is a professional baseball player. With that being said I was used to a certain lifestyle, and when I realized that at my first salon the walk-ins werent coming in, and there was no parade of women who wanted me as their hair stylist I moved salons. I continued this cycle 7 times. I would go back to work and work a full time job and still do hair but it would be on the side. I even sold Mary Kay all while working and doing hair never committing my real time to perfecting my craft the only thing I managed to perfect was how to move and get new business cards FAST! The definition of crazy is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. Well, its sad to admit but I was crazy yall. Crazy until 2007 when I decided that after getting fired because I hated my job and refused to go to work it was time. Time I stopped running from my GOD given talent. I at that time was at a salon in LA that a good friend of mine referred me to. The owner and I at first didnt get along but I got past that, then there was the fact that the salon was so in the cut the clients I did have couldnt find it. Next there was the gas that was $4.85 per gallon and my tank is 16 gallons so yes I was spending $85 dollars per fill up and doing it 3 times a week. The last great thing about this salon was the 2 clowns who lived above the building were selling weed and their clients hung out all day. My last move was to my friend Chauntays salon a salon I had previously worked at. This unlike all the other moves was a move to save money because it was 6 miles away from home and a move for safety reasons. Since my move I have reestablished my clientele and have become friends with great hairstylist one in particular is my friend Dyonne. TO BE CONTINUED.
