While chlorine is our Bestie in the beautiful yet potentially filthy water of swimming pools it is our hair's worst enemy, especially Blondes. The hair can be left looking somewhat green. Detox shampoo & conditioner like Fekkai's used for a few weeks can eliminate the clover color left on the hair from too many long days cooling off in the water.
Next in this Fab magazine there's an article entitled "A spa day of your own," where u use things around the house to pamper who else but yourself. For the hair it is suggested to use a concoction known as "The Frizz Tamer." Now let me just say that this is an excellent and very unique way to tame frizz, because frizz is the number problem especially during hot and humid days in the summer. The main reason we all have frizz is due tot lack of moisture in our hair, hair like the rest of our bodies requires a certain amount of moisture and if it does not get from the products we use it will thus get from the elements. Thus causing frizzy hair the moment you walk out the door on a warm humid day. The recipe along with the instructions to The Frizz Tamer is are follows:
1. CLEANSE, Saturate hair with a mixture of equal parts witch hazel and mouthwash, massaging it onto the scalp with your finger tips. "This works as a natural astringent and antiseptic to get rid of flakes and promote healthier hair growth," says trichologist Philip Kingsley, who has softened the strands of Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet.
2. CONDITION, In a small bowl, combine one avocado with 2 tablespoons each olive oil, water, and heavy whipped cream. comb from root to ends, clip up hair, and cover with a shower cap (the heat from your scalp helps activate the mixture). If you're short on supplies, a dollop of Kingsley's Elasticizer ($38; phillipkingsley.com) will give you a similar shine-producing results.
3. RINSE, After 20 minutes, remove the treatment using tepid water, and wash hair with gentle sulfate-free shampoo. (In style August 2010 edition pg. 164)
