The Angels have had no shortage of star players during their history, but Tim Salmon is the only one the fans could call their own. He was our Angel.
Reggie Jackson, Nolan Ryan, Don Baylor, and Bobby Grich all came from some place else. Wally Joyner, Chuck Finley and Jim Fregosi went to other ports during their playing days.
But not Timmy.
Salmon was the only one who started, finished and played his entire professional career with the Angels. For that, he will always be Mr. Angel. Salmon will never be in Cooperstown. He was never the flashiest player. Heck, he never even made it to an All-Star game thanks to a knack for slow starts out of the gate. But he was our own. He will always be our Angel.
Thanks for the memories (and our first professional interview).
