Super Bowl Buzz Kill

Why your team won't win the Super Bowl:

Claiming that the Bills are not going to win the Super Bowl is not really going out on much of a limb. Especially when you consider that the only thing the Bills know about the Super Bowl is losing them. Yes, it's nice to be nominated and its an honor just to reach the but game, but the Bills squandered a franchises lifetime history worth of Super Bowl chances in just four years. Each in dramatic fashion. For that reason, it seems the Football Gods have smited the Bills to roam football purgatory for the rest of the Earth's days.

Or at least as long as Marv Levy and Ralph Wilson continue to call the shots (which might be longer).

Evidence of this eternal damnation comes in the form of the quarterback duel of J.P. Losman and Kelly Holcomb. It's not going to make anybody forget about Jim Kelly and Frank Reich. Hell, it won't even make people forget about Joe Ferguson and Matt Kofler. Or the Vince Ferragamo and Bruce Mathison era. If it were not for the Jets, this would be the worst quarterback tandem in the NFL.

Then the club made matters worse when it hired coach Dick Jauron. When you stack Jauron up against some of the recent coaches, it doesnt look too bad. Hey, Jauron did have one winning season in five attempts as head coach in Chicago (36-50 career mark). That's as many winning seasons as Gregg Williams and Mike Mularkey managed in five years. So Jauron should continue to the smiting as the Football Gods have deemed.

Other previews: Jets and Texans, Vikings, Jaguars.
