That's What The Magazines Say

In this months MORE magazine, that I just cant express enough, is a great source of information from; health, beauty and even cooking of which you don't have to be 50 to enjoy and apply to your life. The fall hair care is said to give you "5 ways to make more of your maine." This was unlike the other magazine reviews because it was a case study where products were given to consumers of MORE magazine and their feed back was used in the reviews. I chose 2 of the items one professional and the other a store brand. I thought it would be interesting to hear what consumers had to say because I do believe strongly in professional brands. So let the competition commence.

First up is the store brand item by Pantene Pro-V, the lines new product that focuses on thin/fine hair called Flat To Volume Shampoo and Conditioner ($4 various drug stores). Studies on fine hair have shown that unlike "thick" hair fine/thin hair has 50% less protein. Where the hair lacks the shampoo and conditioner make up for by containing special polymers which aide in reducing split ends and breakage. The added bonus is the hair appears fuller, maintaining body through out the day. The reviews were all the raves, but one tester did note that the conditioner was a bit too light for her taste.

The next item which is more on the high end and one of my personal favorites, Alterna Caviar Overnight Hair Rescue ($35 Beauty.com). Now I haven't had the pleasure of testing this item out myself but I will in fact be adding this item to my next shopping list. Hair rescue is just what this product claims to do by not only hydrating the hair but also strengthening dry, damaged hair. Caviar has one special application and so far is the only one of it's kind. The instructions read, "apply to dry hair," according to Alterna research water prohibits 100% penetration because it too is absorbed by the hair. It's then left on over night and since I cant go home with my clients I wonder if the dryer will make up for lack of time. The reviews were mixed, those with thick hair found it magical turning their hair to literally an overnight success. While those with fine hair thought it was too rich.
