Last night, for the first time BET aired the 5th Annual Black Girls Rock Awards which was hosted by the beautiful and timeless actress Nia Long. The awards took place last month you may recall the PINK carpet arrivals in my post Celebs do it and do it well on the PINK carpet for the 5th annual Black Girls Rock! Awards which took place last month. The Creator Of Black Girls Roc, Beverly Bond wanted the show to empower and highlight the accomplishments of African American women. A few of the nights� honorees included the likes of Raven Symone, Keke Palmer, Iyanla Vanzant, Missy Elliot, and legendary actress Ruby Dee. Performers included Jill Scott, Keri Hilson, Monica, Keyshia Cole, Shontelle, Fantasia and so many more.
The show was amazingly phenomenal I'm sure no one anticipated the night to be so magical. I think one of the most memorable moments of the night was the rendition of Nina Simone�s �Four Women� sang by Kelly Price, Marsha Ambrosius, Jill Scott and Ledisi, which is from the soundtrack of the newly released Tyler Perry "For Colored Girls," movie. Many of the nights performances can be seen here and the network will be re-airing the show soon.
